Mr. John A. Papierski, 89 of Schuyler passed away unexpectedly on Sunday November 25, 2007 at his home. John was born in Utica on November 9, 1918 the son of Alexander and Stella (Zalesky) Papierski. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. In September, 1960, John married Marjorie Moses in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, Utica, a blessed union of 22 years until Marjorie's death in 1982. For many years John operated the family dairy farm in Schuyler. He also worked many odd jobs over the years with, Remington Arms, Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company, Sperry UNIVAC and Bendix Corporation. He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church, N. Utica and a past member of the Civil Conservation Corps. John enjoyed Traveling and spending time at the Schuyler Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Papierski is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Harold Woodward, Jr., Lake Park, GA; his son, Michael Papierski, Phoenix, AZ; longtime companion, Rosemary O'Leary, New Hartford; four grandchildren, Nicole Fukes, Gainesville, FL, Kimberly Fukes, GA, Michael Woodward, GA and Arianna Woodward, GA; two sisters, Wanda Lesniak, Schuyler and Clara Smolka, Utica; a sister-in-law, Gatha Moses, New Hartford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Tekel, Mary Hugick, Stella Sperrey and Elizabeth Sudol and one brother, Raymond Papierski. Mr. Papierski's funeral will be held on Friday November 30, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:00 at St. Mark's Church where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday 3:00-7:00 p.m. Those so wishing may consider donations to the American Cancer Society in John's memory. Mr. Papierski's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to John's dear friends, Steve Travis and Bonnie and Jim for the many years of friendship you shared with John. Your care and love for our dad and our entire family will never be forgotten.
