Iva Cole Meeker Utica Iva Cole Meeker, 94 of the Heritage Health Care Center passed away on Monday January 8, 2007 at the home. Iva was born in Utica on September 5, 1912 a daughter of H. Ray and Daisy M. (Bastow) Cole. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and the Excelsior School of Business. In Utica on September 5, 1933 Iva married Lesley F. Meeker a blessed union of 59 years until his passing on January 9, 1992. For many years she was employed with Perry's Cleaners in Utica. Iva was a member of Calvary Baptist Church until its' closing and currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Utica and a member of the Ladies Aux. of the New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department. Iva and her husband Lesley also did over 5000 hours of volunteer work at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Iva is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn M. Tyo, Whitesboro and Bonnie M. Stewart, New Hartford, 7 grandchildren and spouses, Joseph and Kathleen Tyo, Frankfort, John Tyo, Utica, Jean M. and Kevin Bonney, Whitesboro, James W. and Susan Stewart Sr., New Hartford, Kevin W. Stewart, Rome, Lorraine and Jeffrey Robinson, Columbia, MD, and Anne and Bryon Rich, Sr., New Hartford, a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Robert Caswell, New Hartford, and a brother, Howard Cole, Marcy. She is also survived 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Iva was predeceased by a son, William Lesley Meeker in 1948 and a brother, Alan Cole. Mrs. Meeker's funeral service will be held on Thursday January 11, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica with Pastor Ann Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday (Today) from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to a charity of your choice in Iva's memory.
