Dr. Herbert W. Heintz Clinton, NY Herbert W. Heintz, D.D.S., 90 died peacefully at his home that he lived in for the past 63 years on February 24, 2007. Herbert was born August 27, 1916 in the Utica the son of William J. II and Kathryn (Clemens) Heintz. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. He received his BA degree form the College of Holy Cross i9n 1938 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1942. Dr. Heintz did his internship and residency in Oral and Maxillo-Facial surgery at Philadelphia General Hospital and trained at the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. On June 10, 1938 Herbert married Barbara Dowling a union of 57 years until her passing in 1995. Dr. Heintz moved to Clinton in 1944 and established his practice of oral surgery in Utica. He was a member of the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital and Sunmount Hospital in Saranac Lake, NY. He was also a diplomat of American Board of Oral Surgery. Dr. Heintz served as team doctor for the Clinton Comets for many years as well as for the 1980 US Olympic hockey team in Lake Placid. He was a member of the Fort Schuyler Club, Adirondack Mountain Club, Munson Williams Proctor Institute, Colgate University Seven oaks Golf Club and Miller Park Association. He was a former member of the Sadaquada Golf Club, Yahnundasis Golf Club and Skenandoa Golf Club. As an avid outdoorsman, Dr. Heintz enjoyed bird hunting, deer hunting, canoeing and hiking. For many years he raised English Setters, as well as establishing a small dairy farm. Doctor received great enjoyment sharing his interests with his children and grandchildren; in particular he enjoyed his diverse travels with his granddaughter, Dr. Lindsey Madden. Dr. Heintz is survived by his eleven children and their spouses, Herbert W. and Marcia Sprague Heintz, Jasper, NY, Dulcie H. Germond, Kiawah Island, SC, Joshua H. Heintz, Esq., Syracuse, NY, Amanda H. and Joseph E. Colaneri, Jr., Ridgefield, CT, Mathilda H. and Edward A. Gottlieb, Esq., Waban, MA, Cynthia H. and John C. Madden, Hopkinton, NH, Dr. Nicholas H. Heintz and Margot C. Pender, West Bolton, VT, William J. and Linda Redmond Heintz III, New Fairfield, CT, Dr. Nathaniel Heintz and Dr. Franca LaBella, Pelham Manor, NY, Barbara Ann Heintz and Dr. Nathaniel Greene, Catawissa, PA and Benjamin L. and Jill M. Zamperetti Heintz, Sherrill, NY; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Harold C. Heintz, Clinton; 36 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, He was predeceased by his son Anthony L. Heintz in 1971, infant sons, Benjamin, Samuel and John; grandson, Christopher H. Colaneri, Esq. and a brother Dr. Edward M. Heintz and two sisters, Dorothea Wallace and Ruth Lynch. Relatives and friends are invited to Dr. Heintz's funeral mass of Christian burial on Thursday March 1, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Private burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may consider a donation to the Kirkland Town Library in Dr. Heintz's memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton.
