Helen M. Batson, 91, a resident of St. Luke's Home, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the nursing home. Helen was born on April 24, 1916 in Utica, the daughter of James and Emma (Heneka) Snyder. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica Free Academy. On October 12, 1938, Helen married William Batson, Sr. in St. Joseph's Church, Utica. Mr. Batson passed away in 1986. Helen was employed by Westmorland Central School as a secretary. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Clark Mills and of Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills. Helen is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne Marie and Edward Stores, Wyoming, NY, Patricia and Richard Robinson, Vernon; a son and daughter-in-law, William, Jr. and Gail Batson, New York Mills; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Jack Linder, Utica. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Boylan and Louise O'Heron, and one brother, Alfred Snyder. Mrs. Batson's funeral will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yorkville. There are no calling hours. Those wishing may donate to the Alzheimer's Association or to Church of the Annunciation in Helen's memory.
