Genevieve B. Rosbrook, 95, of the Birchwood Healthcare Center, Liverpool, NY and formerly of New Hartford passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the healthcare center where she had been a resident for the last four years. Genevieve was born in Utica on January 13, 1913 the daughter of George J. and Katherine (Lewis) Burke. Her mother passed away at an early age and Genevieve was lovingly raised by her stepmother Mary (Liebel) Burke. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, the St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing and later attended Syracuse University. At St. Mary's Church, Clinton on October 26, 1940 Genevieve married Walter M. Rosbrook a blessed union until his passing away on December 21, 1981. For many years until her retirement in 1973 Genevieve was employed with the Utica School System as a school nurse teacher. She was a member of St. Thomas Church, New Hartford, St. Elizabeth's Alumni Association, the Red Hat Society, and was a former volunteer at the Presbyterian Home. While at Birchwood Genevieve enjoyed the performances of the Kitchen Band. Genevieve is survived by her children; Mary and John Mondi, Overland Park, KS, Gail and Dan Gorczynski, New Hartford, Carol and Bill Jones, Liverpool, Anne and Bob Lewis, Liverpool and Bill and Janice (Truax) Rosbrook, Skaneateles, her grandchildren; Kathleen, Tim, Jonathan, Rebecca, Stacey, John, Tom, Julie, Brian, Matt, Elizabeth, Kate, Meghan and Kelly, her sister-in-law, Margaret Rosbrook, Sherrill, NY. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Bernadette Humphrey. Genevieve was predeceased by a beloved granddaughter, Laura Anne Lewis and a brother, Lewis Burke. Mrs. Rosbrook's funeral will be held on Saturday February 23, 2008 at 11:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton, NY and at 12:00 noon from St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday morning from 9-11:30. Those so wishing may make donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Birchwood Center "Kitchen Band". The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the activities staff and the attentive aids on the 2nd floor of the Birchwood Center for all the care and compassion shown to Genevieve.
