Eleanor E. Pole, 88 of Utica passed away Friday February 23, 2007 at the Heritage Health Care Center. Eleanor was born in Utica on August 29, 1918 a daughter of Julian and Josephine (Damjam) Makarewicz. At Holy Trinity Church on September 14, 1935 Eleanor married Anthony (Corky) Pole. Mr. Pole passed away on May 26, 1987. For several years she was employed with Utica Knit then later helped her husband Corky in the operation of Pole's Grill in Utica. Eleanor was a parishioner of St. Joseph's ? St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Eleanor better known as Ellie was a beautiful gentle woman. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Always feeding anyone who came to her home with her famous soups, hobo and potato. She loved life and her family meant everything to her. She will be deeply missed. We all love you Fly? Eleanor is survived by a daughter, Pauline Polinski, Utica, 4 grandchildren, Paula (Fersetto) Polinski and husband Ernie, Peter Polinski and wife Christine, Pamela Stoner and husband William and Geralynn Niederlander and friend Earl Dousharm, 4 great grandchildren, Ashley Gardner, PJ Polinski, Brad Niederlander and Megan Polinski a son-in-law, William DeCrisci, Utica, 5 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law, Matilda and Anthony Damiano, Whitesboro, Rose and Edwin Sokolowski, Utica, Wanda Makarewicz, Utica, Regina Lorenz, AZ, and Patricia and Charles Dwyer, Utica and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by a daughter, Marilyn DeCrisci in 2004 and a brother Walter Makarewicz. Mrs. Pole's funeral will be held on Monday February 26, 2007 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 11:00 from St. Joseph's ? St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 2-6. Those so wishing may make donations to the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
