Mrs. Dorothy J. Dudeck, 75 a resident of the St. Luke's Home, New Hartford, formerly of N. Utica passed away on Monday May 28, 2007 at the nursing home. Dorothy was born in Cleveland, OH on July 30, 1931 the daughter of Erwin (James) and Agnes (Hassey) Long. She received her early childhood education in Ohio and after coming to Utica in July 1949 continued her education graduating from Utica Free Academy. Dorothy was previously married to Mathew Dudeck. At one time she was employed with Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company and for over 30 years was employed with the Salvation Army until her retirement. In her younger days she was a tournament bowler and was also an avid bingo player. Mrs. Dudeck is survived by two sons, Michael Dudeck and his dear companion Linda Cox, N. Utica and Charles Dudeck, Utica; three beloved grandchildren, Michele Miles and her husband Dominick, N. Utica, Michael Dudeck, Jr., Schuyler and Crystal Dudeck, Schuyler; Linda's son, Sean McCartney, Rome; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Shirley Long, Bonita Springs, FL; one niece, Judy Lamers and her husband Martin and two nephews, John Long and Jimmy Long and his wife Margaret; Also surviving are great nieces, great nephews, cousins, with special mention of Carol Barney and her canine companion, Gretchen. A memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Monday June 4, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment in West Schuyler Cemetery will be held at the family's convenience. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday 5-7 prior to the service. Those so wishing may consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes research Foundation in Dorothy's memory. Dorothy's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her nephew Jimmy for loving care and devotion he showed her during her illness. Also a special thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital 5th floor, the St. Luke's Home, Barton East, and Dorothy's aide Stephanie for the care and compassion given to Dorothy. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
