Dorothy A. Fonner, 79, of North Utica, passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY. Dorothy was born in Utica on October 5, 1927, the daughter of George and Mary Knobles. She was raised and educated locally. On January 3, 1946, Dorothy married Roy Fonner in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Fonner passed away in 1989. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She belonged to the American Legion Post # 229, Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Dorothy is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Christine Fonner, Whitesboro, Richard and Robin Fonner, Hinckley; four cherished grandchildren, Jill, Danny and his wife, Helen, David, and Glenn; a cousin, Patricia Carberry, Amherst, NY. She is also survived by her special K-9 companion, Candy. Besides by her husband, Dorothy is predeceased by her daughter, Peggy Pogozelski and by a sister as a child. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday evening, from 4 ? 6 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Steven ? Swan Humane Society in Dorothy's memory. Dorothy's family extends a special thanks to Dr. Booth and his staff, especially Kelly, and to the staff of the Presbyterian Home for CNY for the care and compassion shown to Dorothy while in their care.
