Catherine W. Copeland, a resident of Niskayuna, NY, previously of Emerson Ave., Utica, NY, passed away April 30, 2008 at Ellis Hospital in Shenectady, NY, after a brief illness. Catherine was raised and educated in Utica, a graduate of UFA and the Utica School of Commerce. She was married to Earl A. Copeland. Mr. Copeland passed away in 1972. Catherine was an avid bridge player and homemaker, who loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was formerly employed by Utica Mutual. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Catherine is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Copeland) and William P. Schultz of Oswego, NY and their children, W. Brian, Matthew E., Michael C., Mary Catherine and Elizabeth A., Sharon (Copeland) and Paul Coderre of Scotia, NY and their children, Daniel J., Christopher E. and Laura C.; nephew, Warren and his wife, Jane Copeland and their children, Christine, Dennis (deceased), Kathy, Kevin and Robert. Besides her husband, Earl, Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Emil and Catherine (Mathis) Werren; and a sister and brother, Mildred and Charles. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Pryor and the staff at Ellis Hospital, especially "Kat" for all their care and support during Catherine's illness. Mrs. Copeland's memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. Her burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown, NY. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Catherine's memory. Her arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica, NY.
