Mrs. Eleanor Mary Jones, 97, a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, formerly of Coolidge Rd., N. Utica, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the nursing home. Eleanor was born in Utica on June 17, 1919 the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Bussey) Kaelin. She graduated salutatorian, with a 91 grade point average, with the 1937 graduating class of Westmoreland High School. On December 2, 1939, Eleanor married Hugh R. Jones, a loving and devoted union of 63 years until Hugh's death in 2002. During WW II, she was employed with General Cable and for many years with Credle Equipment company in Utica. Eleanor was a member of Plymouth Bethesda United Church in Utica and enjoyed writing poetry. Mrs. Jones is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathleen Jones of Marcy and Jeffrey Jones of Utica; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Rick Szucs of Cocoa, FL; one sister, Ruth Mather of Frankfort; a special niece, Bonnie Holmes of Ilion as well as 10 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Brehme and a brother, Alfred Kaelin. Mrs. Jones' funeral will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her interment will be in Westmoreland Union Cemetery.
