Obituary of Conrad D. Byrne

Conrad D. (Bernie) Byrne Clark Mills Conrad D. (Bernie) Byrne, 70, of Clinton St., Clark Mills, passed away at St. Luke's Healthcare Center on January 21, 2008, after a long illness. Bernie was born January 2, 1938, in Utica, NY, the son of Francis A. and Frances Lee Byrne. He was raised and educated in the Utica School System and later was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. For a number of years, Bernie was a member of the Utica Fire Department and later worked at several wire mills, Rome Turney and later at Pep Boys. On November 26, 1994, Bernie was married to Carole Ann Burns. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton, and was an avid fan of NASCAR (#8) and a devoted Yankee fan. Bernie is survived by his wife, Carole Ann; four children and five stepchildren, David and Tammy Byrne of Floyd, Shawn Byrne of UT, Debbie Beaver of AZ, and Roberta Simonsen of UT, also Peggy and Michael Afarian, Michael and Lisa Burns, Amy and Mark Franz, and Christopher and Alanna Burns, all of Clinton, and Jill DiPrizio of MA; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Helena Flanders of SC and Rebecca and Peter Florczyk of MD; two brothers, John and his wife, Linda Byrne, of Wynantskill, and Kevin Byrne of TN; one sister-in-law, Gloria Byrne of Ilion; and his mother-in-law, Carol Brady of Clinton. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Rachell Byrne, and two brothers, Francis P. and James G. Byrne. Mr. Byrne's funeral will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008, at 9:30 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited. His burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton, will be held Wednesday (today) from 5-8. Donations in Bernie's memory would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
