Obituary of Anna B. McCabe

Anna (Anne) B. McCabe, 98, a resident of the Presbyterian Home, formerly of the Meadows Apts., New Hartford passed away Monday August 6, 2007 at the home. Anne was born in Utica, NY on February 11, 1909, the daughter of John and Anna (Philipp) Benz. She was raised and educated in Utica and on July 5, 1928, was married to Francis H. McCabe in Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica. Mr. McCabe passed away on May 5, 1963. Anne was employed at Utica Cutlery, The Boston Store and later at Utica State Hospital, from where she retired. She volunteered for many years at Faxton Hospital and the Presbyterian Home. She was a member of St. Thomas Church, New Hartford and was a member of the Ladies of Charity. Anne is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law; Nancy Lewis of Waterville, Suzanne Green of New Hartford and Carol and Richard Kozlowski of Findlay, Ohio, She also leaves fourteen grandchildren; Joanne (Pete) DeStefano, Donna (Jon) Podeszek, James Kloster, Jr., Richard (Andrea) Kloster, Kathleen (Keith) Waldby, Sharon (Brian) Catlin, Sheila Cahoon, Marianne (Dennis) Reynolds, Kerry (Kurt) Gradel, Rick (Elena) Green, Kristi (Chaz) Zbytniewski, Patrice (Peter) Berton, Amy (Mark) Taylor, and John (Tara) Kozlowski. She also leaves twenty seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Francis, Anne was predeceased by two sisters; Marie Morath and Eleanor Sittig, a brother; J. Francis Benz and two sons-in-law; Richard (Dick) Lewis and Terence (Terry) Green. Anne's family is very grateful to Dr. Christopher Clark, Fr. Joseph Zareski, Tom Lorenz, and all the nurses and aides on the Aspen Unit at the Presbyterian Home for all the care and comfort they have given to Anne over the years. Mrs. McCabe's funeral will be held on Thursday August 9, 2007 at 12:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 1:00 St. John The Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday Morning from 11:00 ? 12:00. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations, in Anne's memory, to a charity of their choice.
