Sophie S. Soron Utica Sophie S. Soron, 79, of Utica, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006 at her home with her family by her side. Sophie was born in Clinton on January 29, 1927, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Ferdula) Lasek. She was raised and educated in Utica. On June 20, 1948, Sophie married Walter D. Soron. For many years, Sophie worked for General Electric in Utica. She later went on to hostess at Vernon Downs Racetrack. Sophie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Walter Skiba Post and a member of the Polish Community Center. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Church, Utica. Sophie is survived by her beloved husband, Walter; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Soron, Utica, Patricia and Michael Jasinski, Utica; one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Patricia Soron, Utica; five grandchildren, Tammy Mickle, Michael Soron, Michele Soron, Amy Ferguson, and Greg Jasinski; three great grandchildren, Hannah Mickle, Ryan Soron and Andrew Soron; four brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws, Freida Lasek, Frank Soron, Stanley and Celia Soron, Don and Jane Soron, and Al Soron, as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by one sister and two brothers, Helen Zacek, Stanley Lasek, and Walter Lasek. Sophie's funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 9:30 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, from 4 ? 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. or to Sacred Heart Church in Sophie's memory. Sophie's family would like to thank Patricia Gould and Sharon Ann Boyd, as well as the entire staff of Hospice Care, for the care and compassion given to Sophie and her family during this difficult time.
