Mr. Daniel Joseph Major, 43 of Utica passed away on Wednesday July 26, 2006 at St. Luke's memorial Hospital after a long illness. Daniel was born in Utica on December 3, 1962 the son of Mary Alshiemer Major and the late Charles Major, and received his education in Mt. Markham Central School. He was employed with the City of Utica court house. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica. Mr. Major is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Major, Utica and Amanda Bushley, Syracuse; his mother, Mary Major, Utica; a grand daughter, Mikaia Bushley, Syracuse; his special companion, Liz Cardona, Utica; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Michelle Major, Utica and Paulette and Donald Thomas, Utica; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Charles Major and his significant other, Shari, Bridgewater, Michael Major, Utica, Ronald and Dorothy Major, Bridgewater, and Carl Major, Utica; a special niece, Brooke Thomas, Utica and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Kim Skellham. Mr. Major's funeral will be held on Saturday July 29, 2006 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St. Utica and 10:00 at Historic Old St. John's Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday (today) 5-8 p.m. A Heartfelt thank you is extended to Paulette and Liz from the entire family for always being there for Daniel during his illness. Also a special thank you to Dr. Lawrence, Dr. Razia and their nurses especially, Dorothy and Laura who really touched Dan's life. Our warmest thanks to the nurses on the 6th floor at St. Luke's for the care you gave to Dan.
