Harriet F. Bernhardt, 83, of Utica, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Harriet was born in Utica on July 23, 1933 the daughter of Donald and Genevieve (Pealo) Gibbons and received her educated in Utica and Syracuse. At one time, Harriet was employed with Indium Corp. and later with Macy's department store. She was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church in N. Utica. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Harriet's true joy came from spending time with her family. Mrs. Bernhardt is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Chuck Seifert of Frisco, TX, Debbie and Joe Lawendowski of Marcy and Cindy and Lou Altieri of Holland Patent; six cherished grandchildren, Jamie Mierek and her husband Peter of Westernville, NY, Daniel Lawendowski of Cincinnati, OH, Michael Altieri and his wife Liz of Rochester, Matthew Altieri of Holland Patent, Luann Altieri and her fiancé Daniel Dreimiller of Denver CO, and Sarah Bernhardt of TX; one adored great grandson, Cooper Altieri, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Daniel Bernhardt, sister, Joan Asdigian and brother, William Gibbons. Mrs. Bernhardt's funeral and burial, entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica will be held at the convenience of her family. Mrs. Bernhardt's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, ICU, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Harriet.
