Therese Durr Obituary

Therese G. Durr, 81 a resident of the Masonic Care Community, Utica, formerly of Clark Mills Rd., Whitesboro, and Otter Lake, NY, passed away April 30, 2006 at the home. Therese was born March 7, 1925 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Philorome and Henriette Gallant. She was raised and educated in Canada. She moved to the U.S. during WWII, where she met and married Francis W. Durr on February 9, 1946. Mr. Durr passed away in 1982. Therese was a member of St. Anne's Church, Whitesboro, a member of the Gold Star Mothers, a member of the New Hartford American Legion, Genetaska, and a member of the Women's Club's of St. Paul's and St. Anne's Church. Therese was a devoted mother and housewife. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Suzette and Francis Kelly of Ft. Mill, SC, Margaret and Al Bielicki of Centerville, VA, Rosemarie and Robert Simon of East Schodack, NY, Claire and Eric Rudka of Deerfield, NY and Eileen and Louis Hamlin of Schodack Landing, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nina Durr of East Nassau, NY; one daughter-in-law, Linda Scharbach of Marcy, NY. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs Durr was predeceased by two sons, US Army Spec. 4, Brian Durr (Vietnam) and Gregory Durr and two grandchildren Bryan and Sarah Rudka. Mrs. Durr's funeral will be held Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 8:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 9:30 at St. Anne's Church, Whitesboro where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday evening 4-8. Donations in Therese's memory would be appreciated to the American Gold Star Mothers, Utica Chapter 56, C/O Mary Wheeler 416 Spruce St. Utica, NY 13502. The American Gold Star Mothers will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. for ritualistic services.
