Marguerite B. Duffy, 101, formerly of Oneonta, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany with loved ones by her side. Marguerite was born in Utica, NY on August 10, 1917 a daughter of Walter and Marguerite (Graystone) Booth, Sr. She was a 1935 graduate of Utica Free Academy and the Excelsior School of Business. On June 14, 1941 Marguerite was united in marriage to William J. Duffy, Sr. a blessed union of 42 years until his death in 1983. For many years until her retirement in 1985 Marguerite was employed as the Secretary of the Student Association at SUNY Oneonta. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta and its’ Altar Rosary Society and the Garden Club of Oneonta. Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Karen Clinton of Stittville, NY, a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Duffy of Fort Plain, NY, seven grandchildren, Joshua Clinton (Sarah), Ashley Clinton, Benjamin Clinton (Kristin), William J. Duffy, III (Ginger), Derek Williams, Wendy Williams, and Jeff Williams, five great grandchildren, Alexander Clinton, Eleanor Clinton, Kevin Duffy, Dhane Butler and Michael Walker. Marguerite was predeceased by her four children, Maureen Duffy, Patricia Williams, William J. Duffy, Jr. and Kevin Duffy, two sisters, Edith Riley and Natalie Duffy and a brother, Walter S. Booth, Jr. A funeral mass for Mrs. Duffy will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:00 at St. Mary’s Church, Oneonta, NY. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton, NY. A special thank you to Christine McGlynn for the friendship, love, and compassion she showed Marguerite while she was at Eastern Star. She treated Marguerite like a much loved grandmother and made sure she had an active life until the end.
