Marie Petrie, 77, of Utica, passed away on August 30, 2016 at Focus Rehab & Nursing Center. Marie was born on October 3, 1938, in Fonda, NY, the daughter of Cecil and Esther Aldrich. Marie graduated valedictorian of her class at Fonda-Fultonville High School. Marie had been employed at one time by the Golden Age Home located on Aiken St. in Utica, NY. Marie enjoyed visiting several restaurants in the Oneida Square area over her years residing in Utica. Having endured many difficulties in her life, Marie remained a kind and appreciative woman. When she was able and living in her apartment, she loved to go out to various restaurants with her friend, Jeanette St. Mary. Marie also loved to shop at Walmart and the old Bradlees Store at Riverside Mall. She was also a regular at the old Woolworth and Neisner’s lunch counters located in downtown Utica. Marie is survived by two daughters, Robin Moore and Christine Petrie, both of Syracuse; her brother, Alvin Aldrich, Sr., Castorland, NY. Marie also leaves nieces and nephews in Croghan, NY. Marie is predeceased by her sister-in-law, Carol Aldrich. Arrangements, entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, are being held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. There are no calling hours. The family offers a special thanks to the staff of the Loretto Home / Focus Rehab & Nursing Center for the care they provided to Marie over the last 9 years. Also to the staff of Catholic Charities residence at 1626 Genesee St., who provided her care for several years.
