Mrs. June C. Campanaro, 78, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. June was born in Utica on November 30, 1937, the daughter of Joseph J. and June (Comstock) Iannone, Sr. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1956 graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 4, 1956 June married Joseph A. Campanaro at St. Joseph's Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 60 years. June was a member of the board of elections and an election inspector for over 40 years, was a supervisor for the 1980 census and a former cub scout den mother. She was also a member and past president of the Sunset School PTA during which time she lobbied the State of New York in support of bringing special reading teachers to NY State Public Schools. Her hard work and efforts paid off and she was one of two individuals invited to Albany for the signing of the law and also received an accommodation from the Commissioner of Education for her tireless efforts. June was a volunteer for the family support unit during Desert Storm and was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Church in New Hartford. Mrs. Campanaro is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; one daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Dale Czeck of Whitesboro; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald and Kathleen Campanaro of Canastota, Robert and Theresa Campanaro of Piscataway, NJ and Anthony Campanaro of Utica; 11 cherished grandchildren, Matthew Campanaro, Caitlin Boylan and her husband Jamie, Daniel Campanaro, Michael Campanaro, James Campanaro, Alexandra Campanaro, Robert Czeck, Joseph Czeck, Steven Czeck, and Megan and Lindsey Everitt; 6 adored great grandchildren, Alasondra, Jacob, Riley and Bailey, Joseph and Cayson; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Iannone of New Hartford; 3 nieces and one nephew, Tina Novak and her husband John, Gina Chapman, Joseph Iannone III and his wife Jennifer and Victoria Broccoli and her husband Arthur; dear friends and relatives, Panagiota Bouboulis, Evelyn Webster, Melissa Everitt, Eleanor Newman, Cindy James and her godchildren Isabel Semeraro, Ali Semeraro and Vincent Semeraro. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and June; two brothers, Donald Iannone and Joseph Iannone, Jr and her best friend of over 50 years, Marilyn DeCrisce. Mrs. Campanaro's funeral will be held on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at Our Lady of The Rosary Church in New Hartford where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider having a Mass offered for June or a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
