Obituary of Norbert J. Stepanick

Mr. Norbert J. Stepanick, 98, formerly of Schuyler, has peacefully returned home to his heavenly Father.
Norbert was born in Utica, on April 23, 1922 the son of Julian and Julia (Jagelewski) Stepanick. Norbert proudly served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. On September 5, 1949, Norbert married his lifelong love, Carolyn Yaeck and together have shared all life’s adventures. For 33 years Norbert was employed as a master mechanic with Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, retiring in 1980. He was a life member of DAV chapter 82, a past commander and service officer with DAV chapter 11, a past commander of American Legion Utica post 229, a member of the Yorkville Fire Department and a parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Stepanick was predeceased by his wife Carolyn, loving called "Skip", parents, Julian and Julia, brother, Ardwin John Stepanick and son-in-law, Roger Clarke. Having rejoiced in the lives of his family, Norbert is survived by his daughters, Rutheen and Robert Hoyt, Linda Clarke and Karen Stepanick and Pat Davis; grandchildren, Rachael and Mario, Renee and Don, Heather, Dennis, Betsy and Jose, and Georgia and Manny; great grandchildren, Faith and Jordan, Kaila, Kevin, Cassandra and Joshua, Chelsea, Alyson and Bobby, as well as numerous great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who brought much joy to his life. He leaves this world surrounded by their love and admiration.
Due to the Coronavirus, we are asking friends to meet family members at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica, on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate a life well lived. Norbert’s entombment, with military honors, will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Yorkville. Those wishing to make a donation in Norbert’s memory, please consider American Legion Utica post 229, 409 Herkimer Rd., Utica NY 13502 or a Mass offering.
