Mrs. Bessie M. (Aiken) Lawler, 81, of Whitesboro, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. Bessie was born in Herkimer, NY on February 25, 1939, the daughter of Augustus and Bessie (Hunt) Lawler and received her education in local schools. On June 23, 1956, Bessie was united in marriage with Robert Aiken, Sr. At one time, Bessie was employed with Faxton Hospital in Utica, later with Lincoln Laundry, Smith Dry Cleaners, Mele Manufacturing, and for 15 years, as a home health aide in the Utica area. Bessie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, arts and crafts, and singing karaoke. She was of the Episcopal faith. Mrs. Lawler is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bessie A. and Joseph Stooks of VA, Evelyn M. and Edward Ryczek of N. Utica and Lily L. Aiken of Marcy; two grandchildren, Christopher Stooks and Jason Stooks and one sister, Lillian Lawler of Utica as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Clyde Johnson, her son, Robert Aiken, one sister, Marian Rehm, and seven brothers, Raymond Augustus Lawler, Albert Lawler, Clarence Lawler, Arthur Lawler, William Lawler, Robert Lawler and James Lawler. Mrs. Lawler’s funeral, was held privately at the convenience of her family.
