Remi Charlebois, 90, of Deerfield passed away at home on Monday, June 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Remi was born in Valley Field, Canada on May 3, 1926, a son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Cardinale) Charlebois. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during World War II aboard the USS Ticonderoga. Remi married Frances Foley on September 18, 1948 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. He started his working career selling cars for H.L. Johnson Car Dealership in Utica, then for many years owned and operated Park and Daiken Service Station in Utica. In 1964 Remi and his partner, Sal Olivadese, opened Clinton Chrysler Plymouth where he worked until his retirement in 1988. Remi was a member of the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the American Legion Post # 1376. Remi is survived by his beloved wife, Frances, his two sons, Remi Charlebois, Jr., and wife Donna, of Deerfield and David Charlebois, of Schuyler, four grandchildren and spouses, Tim Charlebois and wife Michele, Chris Charlebois and wife Heather, Remi Charlebois, III and wife Joanna and Amanda Charlebois, seven great grandchildren, Anthony, Lexi, Lissy, Remi IV, Ryan, Mikayla, and Mason and a sister-in-law, Jan Charlebois. Remi was predeceased by three sisters, Louise Lisandrelli, Reina Imhoff and Fern Capstraw and a brother, Romuald Charlebois. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department or the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
