Obituary of Richard S. Moore, Jr.

Richard S. Moore, Jr., 25, of Schuyler, passed away unexpectedly from AML (Leukemia) on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Richard was born in New Hartford on July 19, 1995, the son of Richard S. Moore Sr. and Gail (Lesniak-Amendola) Moore and was a graduate of West Canada Valley Central School in Newport, NY. After graduation, Richard enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On June 20, 2015, Richard was united in marriage with Katelynn A. Darling at Schuyler United Methodist Church. He was currently employed with Earthscapes Outdoor Contracting in NY Mills. Richard enjoyed racing dirt bikes, was a member of VFW post 8728 in Schuyler, St. John’s Church in Newport and was a dedicated volunteer fire fighter with the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department. Family was very important to Richard, especially his cherished daughter, Nevaeh “Chickie” who was the light of his life.
Richard is survived by his wife, Katelynn; cherished daughter, Nevaeh; his father, Richard Moore Sr., of Schuyler; his mother, Gail Moore and Shane Chargo of Schuyler; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Jayme Moore and Justin Newman of Schuyler, Renay and Kevin Pohleven of Newport, Tina Amendola and George Youngs of Schuyler and Michel Dewey of Newport; nieces and nephews , Zachary Pohleven, Kaleb Pohleven, Jenna Pohleven, Alexis Oyer, Ava Amendola and Grace Dewey; one great nephew, Lucas Oyer; aunts and uncles, Jack (Diane) Moore, Pete (Rita) Moore, Johnny (Patty) Moore, Joann Mazza, Donna Grann, Gloria (Mike) Collver, Tom Lesniak, Gary (Josie) Lesniak, Stanley (Pat) Lesniak, Ed (Kathy) Lesniak, June (Steve) Jones, Dan (Michelle) Lesniak, Dawn Lesniak, and Laurie Lesniak; father-in-law, David Darling, Jr. and Connie Rachon; mother-in-law, Kathleen Jaikin-Darling and David Young; Katelynn’s grandparents, David Sr. and Betty Darling and Artimisha Jaikin; one sister-in-law, Kaylie Darling and Brett Lawson and brother-in-law, Brian Harper, Jr. and Danielle Lippert; close friend Shae, as well as numerous cousins and dear friends too numerous to mention.
Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Face coverings are required, and social distancing and contact tracing protocols must be observed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held. Richard will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a college fund being established for Nevaeh or donating to the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department in Richard’s memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
