Mary Ellen Raymond, 72, of Holland Patent, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Mary Ellen was born in Utica on March 13, 1946, a daughter of William and Marie (Heneka) Helfert. She was a graduate of UFA and Utica School of Commerce. In 1971 at St. John Episcopal Church in Whitesboro, Mary Ellen was united in marriage to Richard Raymond, a blessed union 33 years until his passing in 2004. Mary Ellen started her working career with P.A. Karl Exports and later worked and retired from NYS DOT. She was a member of American Legion Post #229 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary Ellen is survived by two daughters, Julie Hunkins and husband, Rick, of Old Forge and Carolyn Hall and husband, Nate, of Rome; a son, Robert Raymond and wife, Babette, of Rome; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and her beloved cat, Casey. She was predeceased by a grandson, Tyler James Raymond in 1994. Calling hours for Mrs. Raymond will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 11-1 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica with a service to follow at 1 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice and Palliative Care in Mary Ellen’s memory.
