Please share a memory of Eleanora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eleanora W. (Maurer) Schreieck, 93, of Cleveland Ave. in Utica, passed away on January 13, 2021.
Eleanora was born in Utica on March 27, 1927, a daughter of Xavier and Klara (Muhl) Maurer. She attended schools locally and graduated with High Honors in 1945 from Utica Free Academy. In St. Joseph Church, Utica, on October 13, 1951, Eleanora was united in marriage to Karl J. Schreieck, a blessed union of 47 years until his death on December 1, 1998. For many years, she was employed at the Legal Aid Society. Eleanora was a member of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Utica Maennerchor.
Elenora enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the United States on long road trips with her husband and son. She was very proud of her German heritage and spent her 6th birthday on the SS Bremen as she sailed to Germany with her mother. Her pride and joy was her house on Cleveland Ave. that she lived in for 87 years. The walls of that house hold the stories of many social gatherings throughout the years, welcoming all to warm apple kuchen and homemade wine, neighborhood chatter, and card games with friends and family. Eleanora relished telling the stories of the fond memories she built and shared them nightly with a smile that lit up the room.
Eleanora was predeceased by a son Eric Paul Schreieck in 2009. In her later years, Eleanora spent her days surrounded in love by her second family, Pamela Perry, Steve Nelson, Sandy Rathbun, Sean Farrell, Kelly Farrell, Wendy Davy, and Sue Jewett. A special thank you to Linda Perryman for always making Eleanora look beautiful and to Tom Clark for maintaining the house and yard.
Mrs. Schreieck’s funeral will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9:30 -10:30 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
