Curtis A. Dodge, 84, of Schuyler, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center in New Hartford. Curtis was born August 23, 1931, in Schuyler, the son of Clarence A. and Mabel (Kane) Dodge. He was raised and educated locally, and went on to join the family farm, where he worked his entire life. On September 11, 1954, Curtis married Marlene Borden at West Frankfort Methodist Church. Mrs. Dodge passed away in 2005. Curtis was a member of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief several times. He had also been President of the Herkimer City Fire Association. Curtis was of the Methodist faith. Curtis is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bob Zygmunt, Schuyler; son and daughter-in-law, Darry and Marianne Dodge, Schuyler, a son, Dean Dodge, Schuyler (and Stella Dodge, Newport); five grandchildren, Jason Dodge (and girlfriend, Jennifer Brown), Richfield Springs, Jacquelyn Zygmunt, Schuyler, Jamie Zygmunt, Schuyler, Jordanna (& Gavin) Larish, Ithaca, Joel Dodge, Schuyler; one great grandchild, Curtis Allen Zygmunt-Wilcox; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Ken and Eleanor Dodge, Schuyler, Shirley Dodge, Schuyler; brother-in-law, Dean Borden, Newport. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including special nephews, Ronald and Rodney and his wife, Tina. Curtis is predeceased by 3 sisters and 5 brothers, Doris, Patricia, Jessie, Willard, Clayton, Joseph, Denslow, and Donald. Mr. Dodge's funeral service will take place at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 4 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 1 - 4 pm, prior to the funeral service, Interment, in West Schuyler Cemetery, will take place at 11 am on Monday morning. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Dept. in Curtis' memory.
