Obituary of Alice J. Hoole

Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We lost our dear sweet mom, Alice Hoole, on February 10, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Sitrin Health Care Center. Alice was born on February 1, 1925. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Edna Gagnon; brothers, William Gagnon Jr, James Gagnon, Joseph Gagnon; sisters, Betty Palmer, Marylou Zenobio, Arlene Appler; her husband, Bertrand J Hoole; children, Bert Hoole Jr., Ronald Hoole, Kathrine Shepard, Thomas Hoole; daughter in laws, Susan Hoole, Lucille Hoole; grandchildren, Pamela Hoole, David Hoole, Steven Fortier, and William Shepard. Alice is survived by four children and their spouses, Marilynn Fortier, Sue Perry (Wayne), Gary Hoole (Karen), Gayle Sojda (Bill), and daughter in law Sharon Hoole. She is also survived by several brothers, sisters and their spouses, Roseanne Magee (Jim), Jackie Gagnon (Cynthia), Dorothy Gagnon, Raymond Gagnon, Jacqueline King (Butch), Denny Gagnon (Wanda), and Edward Gagnon (Sharon). Alice spent the first part of her career working tirelessly at Beaunit Fibers and raising eight children. She was very active in the union and represented the workers for many years. When the mill closed Alice went back to school and fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a nurse. She loved working at St. Luke's Hospital in the nursery wing, and was admired by all the families whose lives she touched. Alice was an avid quilter. She made quilts for everyone she loved, leaving behind beautiful memories. Known as grandma, gram, and grandma Hooley, she was truly loved and blessed by her 23 grandchildren and over 60 great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. To them she was a cute little spunky lady with quite a sense of humor. Nothing touched her heart like the time she spent with her grandchildren. Alice’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hickory House along with Megan and Christina for the care, compassion, and love shown to our mother during her time at Sitrin Health Care Center.
