Obituary of Lynda A. Schrader

Mrs. Lynda A. Schrader, 68, of Marcy, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford, with her loving family by her side.
Lynda was born in Utica, on November 15, 1952, the daughter of James and Alyce (Manzinger) Gaffney. She was raised in Utica, was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and earned her RN degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. On July 28, 1973, Lynda was united in marriage with Carl F. Schrader at St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica. Lynda was employed as a Registered Nurse with Oneida County Health Department, retiring in 2008, after 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement, she went back to work with the Eastern Star Nursing Home in Oriskany. Linda was a member of the Civil Service Employees Association (C.S.E.A) and past president for the local county RN’s, with the C.S.E.A. She enjoyed working in the yard and was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica. Lynda will most be remembered as a loving, selfless and devoted, wife, mother and caregiver to all.
Mrs. Schrader is survived by her loving husband, Carl; son, Karl J. Schrader and daughter, Jennifer L. Schrader, both of Marcy; one sister, Cynthia Symonds of New Hartford; sister-in-law, Liz Thomas of New Hartford; aunts, Patricia Gaffney of Utica, Charlene Gaffney of TX and Betty Jane Murtaugh of Holland Patent; nieces and nephews, Nina and Anthony Cosamano of Marcy, Philip and Jessica Casamento of Barneveld and James III and Lindsay Gaffney of Mexico, NY and her dear friend and neighbor, Laura Hilt. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Alyce; sister, Susan Casamento, brother and sister-in-law, James Jr., and Linda Gaffney, nephew, Enzo Casamento and brother-in-law, Cliff Symonds.
Mrs. Schrader’s funeral will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 12:00 noon at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave., Utica, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Face coverings are required and social distancing and contact tracing protocols must be observed. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Mrs. Schrader’s family, extends a special thank you to Dr. Andras Perl, Dr. Stephen Graziano, Dr. Stephanie Rice, Dr. Emile Wassel and Dr. Anwar Wassel, as well as Terri and Julie from VNA, for their excellent care and compassion.
