Obituary of Joseph J. Delello

Joseph John Delello, Jr., 59, of Huntington Beach, CA and formerly of Utica, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, June 9, 2016. Born in Sidney, NY, Joe was the oldest son of Joseph Delello and Thomasina Tadyewski Delello of Utica, New York. Joe was a 1974 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Utica, and later graduated from Niagara University in Niagara, NY. During his time at Niagara University, Joe studied abroad in Valencia, Spain. Later, Joe earned his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University in Glendale. Travelling internationally throughout his long business career, Joseph worked for Mitsubishi Motors North America at corporate headquarters in Cypress, CA, at the time of his death. A loving and devoted father, Joe leaves behind his son, Dante Francesco, and his daughter Sante of Plantation, FL. Joe is survived by his brother Michael Delello, sister-in-law Ellen Wilsey Delello, and nephew Dominick of Schuyler Falls, NY; and his brother Christopher Delello, sister-in-law Linda Touchette Delello, and niece Olivia of Granby, Connecticut and Buffalo, NY. Throughout his life, Joe remained close to cousins Barry Delello and wife Mary of Winter Park, FL; Pamela Delello of Lakeland, FL, Michael Caracciolo of Charlotte, NC, Maria Delello Busch of Binghamton, NY; and Susan Caracciolo Pandolfino of Bainbridge, NY. Joe was a true friend who maintained many long-term friendships. He expresses his gratitude to Jim Sweet of Glendale, CA and Miriam Sharfe, of Simi Valley, CA; Mark Downey II of Dana Point, CA; Vincent Karl of Utica, NY; Bob Karl of New Orleans, LA; Mr. and Mrs. George Jaile and family of Coral Gables, FL; Anthony “Rudy” Pugliese of Marcellus, NY; and Barbara Dunbar of Garden Grove, CA. Joe was a second degree Knight of Columbus, St. John Paul I Council of Huntington Beach, and a communicant of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Huntington Beach, CA. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Bainbridge, NY, on Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m., with interment immediately following the service at the Delello family plot in Bainbridge. Joe was proud of his Italian American heritage. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to The National Italian American Foundation or to Notre Dame High School, Utica, NY.
