Marie E. Hammersmith, 91, of Remsen, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
Marie was born in Utica on April 24, 1929, a daughter of Henry J. and Elizabeth (Heintz) Bick. On August 11, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Church, Utica, she was united in marriage to Elmer G. Hammersmith, a blessed union of 56 years until his death on December 10, 2007. Marie was a parishioner of St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Church, Utica and St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville.
Marie is survived by her three children, Donna (Dick) Lehman, Remsen, Ronald Hammersmith, NC and Robert (Mary Jo) Hammersmith, Ilion, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by five brothers.
Mrs. Hammersmith’s funeral will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 10:00 at St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. All COVID protocols must be followed.
