Wayne E. Redmond, 62, of Deerfield passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Wayne was born in Utica, NY on January 2, 1959 to the late Robert F. and Joan B. (Creegan) Redmond. He was raised and educated in Utica, NY and was a 1977 graduate of Utica Free Academy. Wayne started his working career with the Utica Observer Dispatch. He became a Corrections Officer in 1985 at Marcy Correctional until his retirement in 2013. Wayne had a companion of twenty years, Jerriann Dousharm who passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2021. Throughout his life Wayne enjoyed fishing at the St. Lawrence River, horse races at Saratoga Race Track, and spending time outdoors with his two labs. Most of all, Wayne cherished his two daughters and two grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Wayne is survived by his two daughters and their spouses: Amanda and Matthew Molnar, New Hartford, NY and Lauren and Rocco Militano, Deerfield, NY. Wayne leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Colton Molnar and Audrey Militano; brother, Steve and Eileen Redmond; sister, Karen and Salvatore Noti; Jerriann's son, Christopher and Ashley Dousharm. Wayne also leaves behind many good friends, especially Fred Conklin, Patrick Pimpinella and Judi Cecere; several nieces and nephews and his canine companions, Jax and Josie. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, his companion, Jerriann, a special Aunt, Darlene Creegan and two canines, Cocoa and Duke. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 5-7 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., Utica, NY. All covid protocols will be enforced.
