Mrs. Eleanor Emma Harrington, 91, a resident of the Masonic Care Community, Utica, formerly of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the nursing home. Eleanor was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 31, 1929, the daughter of Anton and Berta (Lang) Amann. She moved to Germany as a young girl and received her education there. In 1950, Eleanor was united in marriage with Frederick Henry Harrington in Gloversville, NY, a loving and devoted union of 16 years, until Frederick’s death in 1966. At one time, Eleanor was employed with Marine Midland Bank and later with Bank of America, retiring in 1994. She was an active member of the New Hartford Senior Center where she enjoyed doing aerobics. She also enjoyed crocheting and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Hartford. Mrs. Harrington is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Richard Moon of New Hartford and Bette and Thomas Cook of Clayville; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Ann Marie Harrington of Marcy; six cherished grandchildren, Michael Cook, Andy Cook, Taylor and Matthew Dodge, Jessica and Brian Moore, Jeffery Harrington and Jenna Harrington; four adored great grandchildren, Izabell, Owen, Aiden and Madison; one sister, Doris Judge of VA and one brother and sister-in-law, Heinz and Erica Amann of Germany, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harrington’s funeral will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown, NY. Visitation for family and friends is Friday (today) from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in Eleanor’s memory, please consider the Alzheimer’s Association.
