Bill was born in Utica, on March 23, 1929, the son of Homer and Edna (Greeker) Cooley. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. He then went to work with Pohl Construction Company in Raquette Lake, retiring in 1999. Bill loved the Adirondacks, especially spending time at his camp in Raquette Lake. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed taking on difficult projects that most others would dare not attempt. He also found joy in building things, most notably, the new septic leach field at the Great Camp Sagamore at Raquette Lake and all the Mechanical work on the W.W. Durant dinner boat. Mr. Cooley is survived by his beloved wife, Helen; three sons and two daughters-in-law, George Cooley of Rochester, NY, Robert and Renee Cooley of New Hartford and David and Brenda Cooley of Bloomfield, NY; three cherished grandchildren, Scott Cooley, Katie and Eric Rast and Megan and Will Lawrence; three adored great grandchildren, Hayden and Charlotte, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, including his niece, Betty Beerhalter. He was predeceased by his brother, John L. Cooley and sister, Betty Morgan. A private funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
