Thomas J. Christman Sr., 81, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Thomas was born in Gray, NY on July 31, 1939, a son of Louis and Alice (Fortin) Christman. On June 15, 1959, he was united in marriage to Carla Stekeur, a blessed union of 53 years until her death in 2012. For many years Thomas was employed with Mohawk Bedding then later with Murray’s Paving. Throughout his life Thomas enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of several snowmobile clubs. Thomas is survived by his five children, Christine Buttenschon, Utica, Barbara (Steven) King, VA, Brenda (Richard) Sents, Cassville, Karen (MSG Michael) Bass, NC and Thomas (Crystal) Christman, Jr., Floyd; a sister, Jane Collea, Utica; two brothers, Robert (Fran) Wheeler, NC and David Wheeler, Utica. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Thomas was predeceased by a brother, William Wheeler and a sister, Carol Taylor. Mr. Christman’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 10:30 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4-6. All COVID protocols must be followed. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cold Brook, NY.
