Obituary of Gregory "Nate" R. Nadeau

Mr. Gregory “Nate” R. Nadeau, 66, of Yorkville, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, with his loving family by his side.
Gregory was born in Utica, on February 26, 1955, the son of Ralph Joseph and Eleanor (Dunham) Nadeau. He was raised in Yorkville, attended Sacred Heart grade School and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. On October 28, 2006 Nate was united in marriage with Joanne B. Lockwood at Sacred Heart Church in Utica. Nate was employed by New York State, first at Rome Development Center and more recently, as a Secure Health Treatment Aide with Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy, retiring in 2010. Nate was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed baseball, basketball, softball and golf. Music, spending time relaxing at his camp on Piseco Lake and boating, were a few of Nate’s true passions. He also found great joy spending time at Panera Bread with his coffee crew and with his beloved dog Scooter. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Sacred Heart & St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills.
Mr. Nadeau is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; daughter, Cassandra Coy of Yorkville; mother, Eleanor Dunham Nadeau of New Hartford; sister, Christine Nadeau Veschusio of Marcy; brother, Jeffrey Nadeau and Mara Mulligan of Marcy; mother-in-law, Beatrice Lockwood of West Winfield and the entire Lockwood family, who were an important part of Nate’s life. He also leaves many dear friends, notably, Jerry Kraus, Norm Martin,Danny Kowal and the Yorkville gang, as well as several niece, nephews and cousins, especially Todd Barry. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph, brother Douglas Nadeau, sister, Valarie Nadeau Boehlert and father-in-law, Jerry Lockwood.
Mr. Nadeau’s funeral will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart & St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills, where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Those wishing to make a donation in Nate’s memory, please consider Stevens-Swan Humane Society or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
