Mrs. Carolyn Gates, 76, of Barneveld, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born in Mount Kisco, NY on January 9, 1945, the daughter of Frank and Carolyn (Jones) Owens and received her education in Utica Schools. On December 5, 1964, Carolyn was united in marriage with Raymond “Randy” Gates Jr., at St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica. For several years, Carolyn was as self employed upholster. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and especially camping at her favorite place, Piseco Lake. Mrs. Gates is survived by her loving husband, Raymond; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kelly and Edward Stevens of Floyd, Heidi Edwards and her fiancé Todd Mogensen of Westernville and Peggy and Scott Koenig of Floyd; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond, III and Annette Gates of Remsen; three sisters, Linda Owens-Getz, Candace Owens-Bowen and Patty Lachut Ragsdale; three brothers, Joe Lachut, John Lachut and Jim Lachut; close friends and caregivers, Linda Evans, who was like a forth daughter to Carolyn and Raymond and Shannon Kotary, as well as 12 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Andy Owens and sister, Shelly Whitaker. In keeping with Carolyn’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
