Mrs. Angeline Frances George, went to meet the Lord on July 29, 2021 at the age of 97. She lived and was cared for by her son, David, at his residence, at Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, for the past 5 years. Angeline was born in Utica, on July 19, 1924, the daughter of the late Andrew and Maria (Fusco) Zegarelli. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1942 graduate of Proctor High School. On October 11, 1947, Angeline was united in marriage with Harold T. George, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Utica, enjoying 56 happy years, until Harold’s passing in 2003. Angeline retired from the former Utica State Hospital in 1981, after 25 years of dedicated service as a stenographer and admissions secretary. She was active in the Oneida County ARC Auxiliary, serving as President in 1969 and 1970. She also served on the board of directors, for 32 years, with the Utica Community Federal Credit Union. Angeline was a devoted volunteer at the Utica ARC thrift store for 20 years, after her retirement. Angeline and Harold enjoyed taking cruises, vacationing in Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and at their summer camp in Otter Lake, NY. She was and avid collector of cookbooks and recipes, and enjoyed preparing Lebanese meals. Angeline also enjoyed reading, playing cards and gardening. Mrs. George is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dennis A. and Kathi George and David T. George; a cherished granddaughter, Jennifer R. George; one sister Philomena Nowakowski, and a brother-in-law, Ronald McCann, Sr., as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Husband, Harold; daughter, Maria Ellen George; grandson, Patrick A. George; brother, Angelo Zegarelli; sister, Theresa McCann; sister-in-law, Loise Zegarelli and brother-in-law, Stanley Nowakowski, Sr. Mrs. George’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Utica. Visitation for family and friends is Friday, August 6th from 2:00-4:00 at the funeral home.
