Bette Jane Graf, 67, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. Bette Jane was born in Utica on August 7, 1954, the daughter of Frank A. and Joan Marie (Costello) Furno. Bette Jane was educated at Horatio Seymour Elementary and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1972. Bette Jane was united in marriage with Paul B. Graf on February 14, 1981, and on June 28, 1995 their son Bernard Joseph Graf was born. Bette Jane was an avid reader, loved that old time rock ‘n’ roll, movies and Stephen King novels. Bette Jane enjoyed her employment as a member of the box office crew at the Stanley Theatre. Most recently she excelled as office manager and customer service representative with the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Bette Jane passed away quietly and peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends… expressing their gratitude and thankfulness to her as her spirit went to Heaven. Bette Jane lived a simple life and was a woman of great faith who extended only kindness and love to everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful example to us all. Bette Jane epitomized the fundamental premise that the purpose of our lives on this earth is only to love each other in the best way we can. Bette Jane is survived by her husband Paul B. Graf, her beloved son Bernard J. Graf, Schuyler, her father Frank A. Furno, Naples FL., a brother Frank J. Furno and his wife Carol, New Hartford, sisters Luann Furno-Sickles and her husband Bruce, Naples, FL., Mary Lourdes (Lourdesie) Furno, Umatilla, FL., Colleen Furno and her husband Scott Fischer, Utica, brother Michael R. Furno, Plattsburgh, nephews Nick Conklin, Umatilla, FL., Rielly and Everett, Utica, niece, Jacqueline Fischer, Utica, sister-in-law Barb and her husband Dan Ehlinger and their children John and Grace, Baldwinsville, as well as many cousins. Bette Jane’s furry friend Kitty remains with Bernard. Bette Jane was predeceased by her mother and her maternal and paternal grandparents and many aunts, uncles and dog companions Sadie, Bear, Missy and Max. Bette Jane’s family extends thanks to Dr. Laura Surman, Barneveld and the doctors and nurses and staff of Highland Hospital, Rochester and the members Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. New Hartford, RNs Joseph, Beverly, Crystal, Julie and SW Stephanie. Special and truly heartfelt thanks are extended to Bette Jane’s cherished friends Kat, Melissa, Brenda, Joe and Pam. Bette Jane preferred not to have any formal services as she never wanted to make a fuss.
