Mrs. Doris M. (Dodge) Welch, 94, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. Doris was born in Oswego, NY, on August 16, 1927, the daughter of Frederick G, and Marion M. (Baker) Dodge. On June 19, 1977 in Lake Delta, Doris married Joseph R. Welch, a loving and devoted union of 43 years, until Joseph passing on December 30, 2020. For many years, Doris was employed as an administrative assistant with Mohawk Data Services in Herkimer, NY. Doris was active in baton twirling, as a teacher, judge, and was honored as an inductee in the baton twirling hall of fame. She also enjoyed sewing. Mrs. Welch is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steven Casey of Ilion; one son, Richard Rennie of Nacogdoches, TX; step-children, JoAnn Marie Roberts of Holland Patent, Shawn Welch of PA and Joseph Welch of PA; three cherished grandchildren, Kelly Castello of Waterville, Jennifer Casey of Schuyler and Timothy Rennie of TX; a special niece, Mary Gaudet Wilson of CT as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Edward A. Rennie. Visitation for family and friends is Monday, August 23, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica followed by a short remembrance of Doris’ life at 2:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation. Mrs. Welch’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, for the loving care you provided to Doris.
