Richard W. Mundschenk, 84, of Utica, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2016 at home with his wife by his side. Richard was born in Lowville, New York on September 22, 1931, a son of Aloisius and Frances (Prestopnik) Mundschenk. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. On May 12, 1956, in St. Joseph's Church, Richard married Dolores Sangregoria, a blessed union of 60 years. For many years he was employed at General Electric retiring in 1978. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church. Richard was an avid nature lover who enjoyed canoeing, hiking, camping, hunting and fishing. Most of all, Richard derived pleasure in just sitting in front of a campfire. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores, his mother-in-law, Rose Sangregoria, Utica, four devoted children, Susan Buell and husband, Dale, Holland Patent, Sandra Jasinski, Utica, Robert Mundschenk and wife, Judith, Vestal, NY, and Gary Mundschenk and wife, Stacey, Utica, eight cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Buell, Gregory and Marie Jasinski, Rose and Alice Mundschenk, Alison and Olivia Mundschenk, an adored great grandson, Christopher Caban, Jr., a sister, Theresa Kabot and husband, Edwin, Yorkville, and a brother, Glenn Mundschenk and wife, Patricia, Whitesboro. Mr. Mundschenk's funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11:30 at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church. Family will great people at the conclusion of the mass. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to Mother Marianne's West Side Soup Kitchen.
