Mr. Glenn Robert Mundschenk, 88, of Whitesboro, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 with his loving wife by his side. Glenn was born in Lowville, NY, on February 14, 1933, the son of Aloysius and Frances (Prestopniak) Mundschenk. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1951 graduate of Utica Free Academy. He later attended and graduated from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute where he was on the Presidents list. Glenn proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. On October 10, 1959, Glenn was united in marriage with Patricia M. Makuchowska at Sacred Heart Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 61 years. For many years, he was employed as a design specialist in the radio receiver division of General Electric, retiring in 1986. Glenn was a devout Catholic and a parishioner and daily communicant of The Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills. He was also a 25 years member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus council 189 and an avid NY Yankees fan. Glenn was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed camping and fishing, and above all else, spending time with his loving family. Glenn will be remembered as a quiet man, who truly loved his family and his God. His quick wit and humor, brightened the lives of those around him. To know Glenn, even for a short time, was to love him. Mr. Mundschenk is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Randy Spicer of GA; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Joseph and Marie Mundschenk of Utica; four cherished grandchildren, Mark Spicer of Atlanta, Kelly Spicer of Brooklyn, Jacob Mundschenk of Utica and Thomas Joseph Mundschenk, II of Utica; one sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Edwin Cabot of NC; one sister-in-law, Dolores “Dee” Mundschenk of Utica, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Mundschenk. Mr. Mundschenk’s funeral will be held on Saturday, (today,) August 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa in NY Mills. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Mr. Mundschenk’s family, extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Padmanabhan and the wonderful nurses from the Rome VA Clinic, for the loving care you provided to Glenn. A special thank you to Glenn and Patricia’s caring neighbors and friends from church, for the concern and help you provided to Glenn and Patricia. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
