Mrs. Joan H. Goodson (Evans) Wilson, 90, of Whitesboro, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford, with her loving family by her side. Joan was born in Utica, on November 30, 1930, the daughter of C. Milton and Helen M. (Eaker) Evans. She was raised in Utica, attended St. Patrick’s grammar school and was a 1948 graduate of Utica Free Academy. In May of 1955, Joan married Walter F. Goodson, and the couple were blessed with two daughters, Donna and Linda. On August 6, 1978, Joan was united in Marriage with Richard Wilson, a loving and happy marriage of 35 years, until Richard’s death in 2013. At one time, Joan was employed as a secretary with Bendix Aviation and later with General Electric Company. Her career continued as the manager of the jewelry department with Nichols Department Store, until her retirement. Joan enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid collector of bells, blown glass and dolls. She had a great sense of humor and truly loved telling jokes. Joan was a member of Whitestown American Legion Post 1113, Ladies Auxiliary, Whitestown Vets and VFW 7393 in NY Mills. She also belonged to Whitesboro Seniors and NY Mills Seniors, where she had great fun with all her friends at table two at both organizations. Joan was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Mrs. Wilson is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Boy Dawes of Clinton; her loving friend and companion, Stanley J. Potrzeba, Sr.; one niece, Karen Corriero, as well as seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and six cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Milton and Helen; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Gotte; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Kenneth Roberts, great grandson, David Almond and nephew, Gary Roberts. Mrs. Wilson’s funeral will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Whitesboro, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, September 9th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N., Utica.
