Ms. Mary Ann Stemmer, 77, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 6, 2021 at her home. Mary Ann was born in Utica, on February 4, 1944, the daughter of James and Mary McGuiness. She was raised in Utica, attended Our lady of Lourdes grammar school, was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy and earned her RN degree from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. Mary Ann began her nursing career at St. Elizabeth Hospital and for 30 years, until her retirement, with Eden Park Nursing Home in Utica. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Ms. Stemmer is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard, Jr. and Lori Stemmer of NY Mills; her cherished granddaughter, Evangeline Stemmer; and cousins, Carol and Norm Tower of Waterville, as well as many additional extended family members. Ms. Stemmer’s funeral will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Her interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Utica. Visitation for family and friends is Saturday from 9:30-10:30 prior to the funeral service.
