Mr. Alfio Faro, 87, of N. Utica, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, his and his beloved Maria’s, 65th wedding anniversary. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. Alfio was born in Catania, Sicily Italy, on December 1, 1933, the son of Angelo and Carmela (Riggio) Faro. He was raised and educated in Italy, and proudly served in the Italian Navy. On September 8, 1956, Alfio was united in marriage with Maria C. Russo. Early in his career, he was employed as a nurse in Italy. Alfio and his family came to the United States in 1970, and made their home in N. Utica. He was employed as a carpenter and for many years, as a baker with Florentine Pastry Shop, retiring in 2016. Alfio enjoyed fishing, but his true joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church, N. Utica. Mr. Faro is survived by his beloved wife, Maria; one daughter and son-in-law, Carmine and Michael Cappelli of N. Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Angelo, II and Karen Faro of New Hartford and Fabio and Liz Faro of N. Utica; seven cherished grandchildren, John Cappelli and his wife Kristen, Joseph Cappelli, Adrianna Eanniello, Christopher Faro, Ryan Faro, Joshua Faro and his fiancée, Mallory Tine and Breana Faro; three adored great grandchildren, Anthony, Carter and Briella; Two sisters and brothers-in-law, Franca and Franco Leone and Annamaria and Rosario Palano all of Italy; one brother and sister-in-law, Emanuele and Sabrina Faro of Italy; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Russo of Mohawk and Serafina Faraoni of Utica, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Pina and Gaetano Anastasi and three brother-in-law, John Russo, Carmen Russo and Mario Faraoni. Mr. Faro’s funeral will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica. His Rite of Committal and entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
