Obituary of Frances Lucille Henry

Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frances (Franny) Lucille Henry passed away on September 9, 2021 at St Luke’s Hospital due to COVID-19 related complications. Franny was born July 4, 1948 in Utica, NY to Frances Schultz & Carl Henry. After graduating from Utica Free Academy, she began her Nursing career while working as an LPN at Broadacres Nursing Home. She went on to earn her RN from MVCC & retired from Central New York Psychiatric Center. Franny had more family & dear friends than anyone could possibly count. They relied upon her daily for her unsurpassed ability to make them laugh. Fran was known for her enormous heart, bright soul, hilarious sense of humor, & frequent adventurous shenanigans. She was often the brunt of many jokes but she always took it with stride & would always laugh right along with you. She was our “Firecracker Fran”. She enjoyed spending time with family more than anything else in the world, especially with her sister Peggy. They were completely inseparable. And she was much more than just an aunt to her niece Wreathe Anne. She was thought of as her second mother. Franny also loved going to the opera in Cooperstown, NY each summer with her sister & cousin Nancy. She visited many different casinos with her friends & was a pro at playing the penny slots. She loved to campaign & was involved in many activities to support our troops. She was a woman of great faith & a parishioner at St Mary’s of New York Mills. Her faith in God was her anchor throughout her life. Surviving are her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Alice Roberts of Utica, NY, her niece Wreathe Anne Roberts of Hilton, NY, her beloved canine companions Charlie & Kizmet, & a whole host of cousins & close friends who will miss her greatly. Frances was predeceased by her parents, Frances & Carl Henry. A Catholic Graveside Service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery on Oneida St, Utica, NY on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 1:00pm. Regardless of being outdoors, we ask that you wear a mask & maintain social distancing. A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date to be announced. In honor of Frances & in lieu of flowers, please get vaccinated. She knew at the end how important it is to get the vaccine & regretted her decision against it. It may not only save your life, but those of your families, friends, & community as a whole. We would like to thank the Doctors & staff at St Luke’s Hospital for their compassionate care. Franny was so many things to so many people & the world does not look the same without her. Her legacy is one of tremendous love, faith, & genuine kindness. We will love you forever Frances Henry.
