Obituary of Sean S. Bonney

Mr. Sean S. Bonney, 63, of Marcy, formerly of Mint Hill, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Rome Hospital. Sean was born in Utica, on September 13, 1958, the son of Sylvester and Betsy (Hahn) Bonney. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. For many years, Sean was employed with Marcy Psychiatric Center, retiring in 2013 and also parttime, as a police officer, with the Boonville Police Department and Frankfort Police Department. Sean was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. He was an avid hockey enthusiast and was a big fan of the Utica Comets and NY Rangers. He also enjoyed drag racing and traveling with his fiancée, Glenda. Mr. Bonney is survived by his beloved fiancée, Glenda Jones of Boonville; four children, Ashley Tarnelli of Marcy, Kayla Bonney and her fiancée, Michael Cornmire of Utica, Sean Bonney, Jr. of Marcy and Michael Bonney of Marcy; three cherished grandchildren, Terrence Lipinski, Brayden Tarnelli and Connor Bonney; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kelly and Paul Ward of Marcy and Cathie and Shawn Owens of GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Jean Bonney of SC and Dennis and Sue Bonney of Forestport; an uncle, Dennis Hahn of Constableville, NY, as well as several additional aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Sylvester and Betsy. Visitation for family and friends is Monday, September 20, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. His funeral will take place on Monday, September 20th at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica, where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in Westernville Cemetery, Westernville, NY.
