Regina M. Clark, 83, a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, formerly of South Utica, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the nursing home with her loving family by her side. Regina was born in Linden, NJ, on May 28, 1938, the daughter of Michael P. and Tessie (Walkiewicz) Mroz. She was raised and educated in NJ, and earned her BA degree in economics from Douglas College of Rutgers University. Regina returned to college in her fifties, earning her master’s degree in higher education administration from SUNY Albany. On September 1, 1962, Regina was united in marriage with Henry A. Clark, at St. Theresa’s Church in Linden, NJ. Regina and Henry (Max) were married for 41 years, until his death in 2003. During her many years in Utica, Regina was a longtime devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Regina started her career as principal planner, division of state and regional planning in Trenton, NJ. In the 1960s Regina, Henry and their two eldest children moved to Utica, where their two younger children were born. After raising the four children, Regina resumed her career. Regina was director of planning and community development for the city of Utica from 1980 to 1988. Regina then turned to independent consultancy, working on grant writing for the state of NY. After her consultancy work, Regina focused on higher education and became director in the department of corporate and community education at MVCC from 1992 to 1997. She was also an adjunct instructor at MVCC from 1993 to 1997. Regina held the position of director at the center for continuing education and corporate services at SUNY Delhi from 1997 to 2003. While she enjoyed the position and community at SUNY Delhi, Regina returned to working in Utica in 2003 and finished her career at the city of Utica as director of community development; a position from which she retired in 2008. Regina is survived by her four children, Thomas (Debra) Clark of Utica, Marianne Clark of Manlius, NY, Juliette Clark of Utica and Darrell (Laura) Clark of South Riding, VA; four cherished grandchildren, George, Dominic, Emily and Henry; one sister, Frances Blysak of Port Orange, FL; two brothers, Daniel (Sheri) Mroz of Port St. Lucy, FL, and Robert (Dianne) Mroz of Westfield, NJ. Regina also leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Andrew (Ali) Blysak and their children; Jennifer (Kevin) Lopata and their children; Karen (Bud) Due and their children; Paula (James) Terry and their children; Judy (Peter) Toscano and their child; John (Allison) Pienciak and their children; Robert Pienciak and Elizabeth Rodriguez and their children; Michael (Ellie) Mroz and their children; Lyndsey (David) Pepperman and their children; Bobby (Tania) Mroz and their child; Jill Mroz; Carey (Jon) McDivitt and their children: Darby (John) Annunziata and their children; and her dear friend, Sarah Beck. Regina was predeceased by her sister, Roberta Pienciak. Regina’s family is deeply grateful for the care and affection she received from the hard-working and dedicated staff on the Westchester unit at Masonic Care Community. The CNAs, RAs, LPNs, and RNs treated Regina with a loving tenderness and maintained her dignity during her long illness. Regina’s funeral will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St., Utica, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Funeral Mass. Face coverings are required in church. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica.
