Elizabeth “Betty” Marie (Brucker) Beaton, died December 3, 2021 Peacefully at Mt Sinai Hospital Miami with family by her side. She was born October 1, 1939 on the Brucker Farm in Deerfield, NY, the daughter of the late Stella and Royal Brucker. She attended Whitesboro high school and Utica School of Commerce. Betty Married her high school sweetheart, and love of her life Gary M. Beaton and enjoyed 65 years together. She enjoyed being a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Wife. She loved spending time with all of her family. She was well known for her home which had a revolving door, open to all and anyone in need of a place to lay their head. In her younger years, while raising seven children, she worked at the Notre Dame HS lunch room, was a Girl Scout troop leader, Boy Scout Den Mother, hosting holiday gatherings. Betty was also an accountant for Joseph Beaton and Sons Inc., and later Strawberry Hills Mobile Home Park, Island Shadows Mobile Home Park, and Ocean Palms. One of her biggest achievements was the creation of Island Shadows where she physically worked side by side with her husband Gary and children. She was an avid gardener, sewed many of her children’s clothes, was an excellent cook, enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and crochet (she made the best mittens), and creating many beautiful works of art. She was a lover of all animals except an occasional critter who invaded her yard! Betty is survived by her beloved husband Gary; her children Gary Michael II and Deborah of Marcy, NY; Alec Angus and Cynthia of E. Syracuse, NY; Joel Scott and Marcie of Elmira, NY; Todd Matthew and Sheila of Deerfield, NY; Kelly Ann of Trumansburg, NY; Sherri Louise and Ronald Enoksen of Dartmouth, MA; and Jodi Marie and Tadd Tuomie of New Brighton, MN. Her family grew to include 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, with 2 more on the way. Betty also leaves behind her sister Louella Kawalec and nieces Karen and Marylou and families. Betty is predeceased by her sister Gladys Brucker, nephew Kevin Kawalec. and brother-in-law Joseph Kawalec. She was a devout Catholic who touched the lives of anyone who met her. She will be truly missed. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday December 12th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Heintz Funeral Service 408 Herkimer Rd. Utica, NY. A funeral Mass will be December 13th at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church 1206 Lincoln Ave. Utica, NY, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A spring burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery, N. Utica.
