Mr. Howard B. Caswell, 99, better known as Brad, of N. Utica, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home with Mark and Brenda by his side. Howard was born in Utica, on July 23, 1922, the son of Herbert and Jessie (Moore) Caswell and received his education in Utica schools. Howard proudly served in the US Air Force during WW II. On June 1, 1946, Howard was united in marriage with Doris Y. Skane, a loving union of 74 years, until Doris’ death in 2020. For 34 years, Howard was employed with Kelsey Hayes Corp. in Whitesboro. He also assisted his brother-in-law, John Meyers, owner of North Utica Florist with flower deliveries. Howard was an avid bowler, a little league manager, a former member of the Masons and a “handy man” who could fix anything. Mr. Caswell is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Tom Caswell of GA, Mark and Brenda Caswell of N. Utica, and Barbara Caswell of MD; 12 grandchildren, Robbie (Sherrie) Caswell, Denise Williams, Cheryl Caswell, Joey Caswell (Heather), Rebecca Caswell, Thomas Caswell, Justin Caswell, Kristin Caswell, Eric Caswell, Mark Caswell Jr., Jimmy Caswell and Rachel Caswell; one sister, Patricia Gaffney of Utica and a sister-in-law, Vivian Caswell, as well as 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, SFC Robert Caswell, US Army, a grandson, Brad Caswell, brother, Robert Caswell, sister and brother-in-law, Janette and John Meyers and brother-in-law, Jack Gaffney. Sincere gratitude, for going above and beyond, given to Bill, Brandy and Linda at the Rome VA Home Base Primary Care, Terry, Amy, Candice and Kelly from Behrs Home Care, Carol from the Office For the Aging, Kathy and MaryEllen and the Utica Fire Dept. from Station 2 (Truck 2) and Station 7, (Ambulance 3). Your kindness will never be forgotten! Mr. Caswell’s funeral will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
