Obituary of Carol Y. Hannigan

Mrs. Carol Y. Hannigan, 91, of Madison, WI, formerly of Lee Blvd., N. Utica, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at University of Wisconsin Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Carol was born in West Haven, CT, on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1930, the daughter of Henry and Charlotte (Moore) Young. She was raised and educated in West Haven and was a graduate of West Haven High School. On August 18, 1951, Carol was united in marriage with John T. Hannigan at St. John the Baptist Church in New Haven, CT, a loving and devoted union of 59 years, until John’s death in 2010. Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family. She and John raised their seven children together in Utica, before moving to Wisconsin in 2004. She was a member of St Mark’s Catholic Church in Utica and Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Madison.
Carol is survived by her children, Charlotte Hannigan of Bradenton, FL, Thomas (Lorri) Hannigan of Oriskany, NY, Joseph (Cheryl) Hannigan of Newton, NH, Peter (Peggy) Hannigan of Delhi, NY, Catherine Hannigan (John Craven) of Knoxville, TN, Eileen Hannigan (Christopher Dolan) of Madison, WI, and her son-in-law, Fred Stewart, of Camillus, NY. She is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren, Pam Cobane, Heather (Matthew) Jensen, Christina (Mike) Volo, Lauren (Alan) Gosselin, Andrew Hannigan (Savannah Wake), Brian (Alicia) Hannigan, Allison Hannigan, Thomas Dolan, and Holly Dolan, as well as 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Stewart, sister, Elizabeth Francois and brother, Henry Young.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, there are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica. Her Rite of Committal and entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Yorkville.
In lieu of flowers, Carol asked for donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
